Hostess Winner

Posted in freebies at 3:02 am by stamperstacy

In my December Newsletter I was celebrating my hostesses- yes, even the ones from my first workshops were entered into my draw. I meant to draw the names on December 31 but it slipped my mind in all the Christmas and New Years excitement and so tonight I piled all the names of my hostesses past and present into the middle of my kitchen table and drew…

Delene!

Congrats Delene, you’re my winner. You’ve won a level 2 hostess set from the 2007 Fall/Winter Collection, In the Spotlight. You can pick it up at our next club meeting on Feb 1.

Stay tuned for more contest winners tomorrow!

Host a workshop for me and you’ll be entered into my draw at the end of this year, plus earn all sorts of other goodies from both myself and Stampin’ Up!

Email me for more information.
See you later!

Technique Tuesday: a “Stamp Map”

Posted in Card Samples, Technique Tuesday at 8:20 pm by stamperstacy

This is something I like to do when I find a set that has many versatile images. I used the stamp set from the January Bundle Promotion called Happy Heart Day. For more details on this promotion, check out Stampin’ Up!’s website here.

With this sheet I was able to make 6 regular 1/4 fold cards, 4 3×3 mini cards, and 4 tags.

First, gather your materials. One sheet of Whisper White 8.5×11 cardstock, 2 sheets of 12×12 cardstock in colours that will coordinate with your shading, and 2 sheets of coordinating 8.5×11 cardstock. Basic Black stampin’ pad, stampin’ pastels, extra q-tips (for shading), adhesive, papercutter, 13/8 circle punch, large tag punch, and paper snips. I also made my cards pretty at the end using Crystal Effects, 2-way Glue, and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.

Start by stamping your images on the white carstock. Leave enough space for cutting out the images and/or punching them out.

Once you’re done that, open up your pastels (chalks), choose your colours, and begin shading your stamp map. Start with one colour, such as gray, and shade every gray item on your cardstock. Move on until everything is coloured. This by far is the most time consuming part of the project.

Next, cut out your images and sort them into separate sections. Punch out with the circle punch every second flower, cut out your tag punches, and cut out your remaining flowers.

Cut down your cardstock. Your 12×12 into 4-8.5×11 sheets + 3-3×6 pieces. The extra is for matting.
Cut down one of your 8.5×11 into 2 cards and 1 into 1 card + extra for matting

Mat and arrange your cards before gluing everything down- make sure you have your cards set up the way you want them. Punch out one pink circle and mount a cut out flower onto it, and punch out 4 pink tags to mount your tag pieces on.

The finished cards are terrific. I really encourage you to use your glitter and crystal effects. It really added to them and made them pretty fun too.

Here’s the finished projects. I’m going to use the tags for some candy-bag gifts using medium flat cello bags from Stampin’ Up! and give the rest of these to my hostesses this month and the next.

I’ve got a giveaway of a paper “kit” to do this same thing on my typepad blog. Feel free to enter my draw. You won’t win the stamp set or extra supplies, but the stamped map plus the cardstock to complete these cards and tags will be for the winner.

If you want to see these cards spread out in a messy pile on my kitchen table, feel free to drop me a line!

Happy New Year! Enjoy!

Edit by Stacy: I will honour all entries received both here and on Typepad. Thanks for your enthusiasm!
