Sunday Night Stamping: Jar Cards

Posted in Card Samples, Sunday Night Stamping at 2:08 am by stamperstacy

Yesterday in Millet we saw a demonstration on how to create a jar of cards, and how to hold that as a stamp camp. I was so excited I had to try out the templates and see how easy it would be to follow the instructions.
I didn’t get a picture of the jar…but here are the cards I created. I used the 2007 SAB Simply Scrappin’ Kit Just Delightful as well as a couple of stamps from So Very and Happy Harmony.
This is definitely going to be a stamp camp before the new catalogue comes out!

Technique Tuesday: Watercolouring: a Twist on Bleaching

Posted in Card Samples, Technique Tuesday, Watercolour Crayon Techniques at 1:50 am by stamperstacy

bleach-painting-with-watercolouring.jpg
This card was created using the hostess stamp set Both-Way Blossoms, All About U, a small paintbrush, Gold Glory embossing powder, Glorious Green, Brilliant Blue, and Sahara Sand CS, Bleach, 1/16″ punch, Gold Brads, Blender Pens, and Watercolour Wonder Crayons.
First, stamp and emboss your image on dark cardstock. Next, use a small paintbrush to paint bleach inside the image. Don’t be too hasty with the bleach- a little goes a long way, and you can always apply more after if the look isn’t quite what you’re looking for. The bleach can also remove some of the embossing, so be careful to not touch the embossing if you can avoid it. Make sure your bleach is totally dry after painting before going any further. This technique was rejected to teach at a workshop as it took quite a while to complete.
Next, colour in your image with the Watercolour Wonder Crayons, over the bleached-out areas. It takes quite a bit of colouring to get adequate coverage. For this project, the blue tint never disappeared entirely. You can use the blender pen at this point, then add more colour as you need to.
The rest of the card is your usual assembly. Emboss the greeting, punch the holes, attach with brads.
I hope you like it!

Sunday Night Stamping: Silk Scarf

Posted in Other Stamping Projects, Sunday Night Stamping at 2:42 am by stamperstacy

roses-in-winter-silk-scarf.jpg
Originally, I was actually going to stamp tonight on a new scarf using Delight in life or maybe Polka Dots and Paisley. But then after setting up our ironing board, I realized I couldn’t find my iron. What does that say about me?! So this scarf was one I did before Christmas, using Roses in Winter stamp set, Old Olive, and Ruby Red Craft inks.
Although it’s a bit scary the first time you ink up your stamp and place it on your lovely silk scarf, it always turns out better then you expect and it’s so pretty when you’re done!
First, iron your scarf (The only time I ever iron now is for my crafting!) It’s easier to stamp if all the creases are mostly gone. Next, pick your set. The best images to stamp on fabric are usually bold, larger images, but because silk is so fine a material with such a tight/non-existent weave, you can use just about anything.
The third thing you do is ink up your stamp with craft ink. Note: Just craft ink! Don’t be tempted by classic, or stazon- they won’t set properly. Put a piece of scrap paper under your immediate surface, and start stamping. Go slowly, don’t rush it, as once you start you can’t undo what you’ve done. When you’re finished, leave it alone overnight to mostly air dry, then iron it again, on the Silk setting, without steam- it should be dry-ironed. Once that final step is done you can wear it and wash it as you desire. Or give it away…mother’s day gifts are coming up!
Have a great week! Enjoy!
